Did you know that we throw away 7.2 million tonnes of food and drink from our homes every year, the majority of which could have been eaten? This costs us £12 billion a year, harms the environment and wastes resources. In the UK food industry, waste is estimated to cost £5 billion per year.

We have teamed up with River Cottage Canteen in Winchester to get the food waste message across. On Tuesday12 May 100 guests sampled specially prepared treats from commonly wasted foods created by the River Cottage Canteen chefs and took part in 'casino style' food waste activities and games.

At the end of the evening everyone took home a Leftover Lunch pack with it's three specially designed recipe plans for a leftover party and everything you need to run a fun and engaging party for your friends and family. You can run your own leftover lunch party using the materials and recipes.

During the evening we gathered loads of food waste tips and hints - take a look at what people do to keep thier waste down at home. Add your own tip and we will post it on the Food Waste Wall.
